Mnuyaq’s Self Care Day! A Day of Renewal:

Mnuyaq’s Women’s Council Hosts a Heartfelt Self-Care Day Mnuyaq’s Self Care Day.

The United Church in Bella Bella was filled with more than just light last week; it was brimming with laughter, conversation, and the powerful spirit of community. The Mnuyaq’s Women’s Council recently hosted a much-anticipated Self-Care Day, and it was a resounding success, drawing a wonderful crowd of women eager to pause, connect, and nurture themselves.

In a world that often asks us to keep going, this event was a beautiful reminder of the profound importance of stopping to simply be. The organizers created a warm, welcoming space where the focus was squarely on relaxation, creativity, and the simple joy of being in good company.

A Tapestry of Creativity and Care

The church buzzed with positive energy as attendees moved between various activity stations, each offering a unique way to practice self-care.

  • Healing Hands and Stories: At one table, women gathered to pamper themselves and each other, painting nails and styling hair. These acts of grooming transformed into acts of bonding, as stories were shared and laughter flowed as freely as the polish.
  • Weaving Wisdom: The ancient, soothing art of cedar weaving connected participants to tradition and the land. The scent of cedar filled the air as skilled hands and eager learners worked together, creating beautiful pieces that were imbued with both cultural significance and personal intention.
  • A Personal Touch: A particularly popular station allowed everyone to become an artist. Women designed and created their own unique tea cups and tumblers. Imagine sipping your morning tea from a cup you crafted with your own hands—a daily reminder to take a moment for oneself long after the event ended.

The true magic of the day wasn’t just in the activities themselves, but in the shared experience. The sound of conversation, the warmth of helping a neighbour, and the sight of generations of women sharing skills created a powerful sense of belonging.

More Than an Event: A Celebration of Community

This Self-Care Day was a beautiful testament to the vital work of the Mnuyaq’s Women’s Council. It highlighted that self-care is not a solitary act but can be a collective, community-building practice. It reinforced the idea that taking time to nurture ourselves makes our entire community stronger.

A heartfelt thank you to the organizers who worked so hard to make this event possible. Your dedication created a safe and joyful space for everyone involved.

The success of the day, measured by the smiles and the full seats, shows just how much this was needed. It was a powerful reminder that in Bella Bella, we hold each other up, one cup of tea, one cedar strand, and one shared laugh at a time.

We look forward to the next gathering!
